Growing the Game Without Growing Player Fees

Soccer Is Growing. CMSA Player Fees Aren’t.

The Calgary Minor Soccer Association (CMSA) Board of Directors is proud to announce that CMSA Player Fees aren't increasing for the 2026/27 Indoor and 2027 Outdoor seasons.

This marks the second consecutive year without an increase to CMSA Player Fees - a deliberate decision to support families and help keep soccer affordable as participation, operating costs, and demand for programming continue to grow across Calgary. The excitement surrounding soccer has never been greater. But for CMSA, the true legacy of the 2026 FIFA World Cup will not be measured only by what happens on the field this summer. It will be measured by how many more children are able to discover the game, join a team, and experience the lifelong benefits of belonging to the soccer community.

Holding fees steady is one part of CMSA’s broader commitment to:

• Grow access by keeping soccer affordable and accessible for Calgary families;

• Open new pathways into the game through initiatives such as Servus Credit Union Free Soccer Fridays and Leg Up Foundation Soccer in Schools programming;

• Advance Safe Sport, coach development, referee training, and the overall quality of the player experience; and

• Lead advocacy through the Fields for our Future campaign for the quality playing spaces Calgary’s growing soccer community urgently needs.

“Families are facing rising costs in nearly every part of their lives, and we do not believe cost should be the reason a child misses the opportunity to play soccer,” says Bernie Morton, President of CMSA. “Freezing CMSA Player Fees for a second consecutive year is one way we can help keep soccer within reach for families and give more children the chance to be inspired by their World Cup heroes, dream big, and build confidence on and off the field."

Soccer is growing and CMSA is working to ensure opportunity grows with it.

Our Vision and commitment remains clear: Elevating and uniting our community through soccer, and that means more children playing, more families feeling welcome, and a stronger soccer community where everyone has the opportunity to play and develop to their potential.
